Supervision and consultation to be effective needs to be both clinical and reflective in nature. In clinical supervision we focus on case consultation, explore therapeutic approaches and clinical interventions. Supervision is also an opportunity to reflect on the client-therapist relationship and how that informs the clinical work, including understanding ones biases, privileges and how the use of self can be very impactful as a therapeutic intervention.
It is my honor to support therapists on their professional growth and personal journey as they seek to develop and reflect on their practice. I have a real passion to mentor and inspire others with the many learnings and experiences I have acquired in my 25 years as a therapist and as a supervisor.
My approach to supervision is one of working collaboratively, creating safety through mutual respect, open dialogue and genuine interactions. My hope is to build an environment and relationship that allow clinicians to feel free and open to address, explore and work through any difficulties that arise in their work. Supervision is also helping clinicians to understand their values and beliefs and find their style as therapists that fit with those values while meeting best practice standards in their professional practice.
Whether we meet one-on-one, as part of a small group , or combination of both, the aim is to establish a strong supervisory relationship where all members can be open and vulnerable to address client concerns and yourself as a therapist as you grow and develop your clinical practice. Group supervision can be very powerful as it allows to learn from each other, feel understood and supported (and challenged at times) in a non- judgmental and respectful environment. Supervision provided in a group format offers a unique opportunity to learn from the diverse backgrounds and experiences of other and enriches the learning as if offers different perspectives.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and recognized by this College to supervise clinicians who are pursuing registration with the College. If you are a Qualifying Registrant or a Registered Psychotherapists working toward independent practice, I can help.
As part of the last 15 years of my career in leadership and management I have directly mentored and supported clinical supervisors and managers. I strongly believe we never stop learning, and even when we are supervising others, there is a lot of learning that also happens for the supervisor. Reflecting on our own supervisory practice and style is extremely valuable as it helps to strength your supervisory practices. I will also offer supervision that promotes learning, growing, and further developing your supervisory skills.
